But I stuck to it, nearly finishing the soup, and having 2 big bowls of salad ( with a tiny amount of salad cream).

So one of the things on his bucket list is that he wants to ski in all 50 states. Obviously some states don’t have a ski resort and for those states, he usually tries to find a city park, he puts on his boots and skis and will ski down a hill. Hubby just so happened to have some vacation time coming so we spontaneously flew to Dallas and rented a car for a massive road trip! We knocked 10 states off his bucket list for a grand total of 30 and so now he has only 20 more to go. Some days we were driving for 12 hours and of course we needed some snacks during our drive. I seriously can eat it every day (and I do) and the pounds start dropping off! You seriously are going to want this recipe. To make the tastiest tomato soup you’ll ever experience wait until the tomatoes are at their most ripe and juicy, around September. Throw the vines and green bits away and wash the tomatoes. Hold your hand over the pan until you can feel the heat rising from the oil, then tip in the onion, carrot and celery and mix them together with a wooden spoon. Still with the heat low, cook the vegetables until they're soft and faintly coloured. This should take about 10 minutes and you should stir them two or three times so they cook evenly and don’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Tear 2 bay leaves into a few pieces and throw them into the pan. Stir to mix everything together, put the lid on the pan and let the tomatoes stew over a low heat for 10 minutes until they shrink down in the pan and their juices flow nicely. Turn up the heat as high as it will go and wait until everything is bubbling, then turn the heat down to low again and put the lid back on the pan. Remove the pan from the heat, take the lid off and stand back for a few seconds or so while the steam escapes, then fish out the pieces of bay leaf and throw them away. Ladle the soup into your blender until it’s about three-quarters full, fit the lid on tightly and turn the machine on full. Pour the puréed soup back into the pan and reheat it over a medium heat for a few minutes, stirring occasionally until you can see bubbles breaking gently on the surface. If the colour’s not a deep enough red for you, plop in another teaspoon of tomato purée and stir until it dissolves.
The 6 Best Soups for Weight Loss. With the help of Isabel Smith, MS, RD, CDN, registered dietitian and founder of Isabel Smith Nutrition, we’ve picked the six soup varieties that are best for shedding unwanted weight and maintaining a flat belly. “Choosing a bowl with lean protein like chicken can help promote satiety, as protein helps to slow digestion and promotes blood-sugar stability,” says Smith. Foods rich in protein and fiber take longer for your body to digest, so you stay fuller longer and eat less throughout the day. As with most soups, it’s better to make this one at home, so you can ensure that you’re getting the leanest cuts of meat possible and can control portions. Opt for a version with a simple tomato-based broth, and pass up any bread on the side to keep calories at bay. “Avoid soups that are cream-based, and instead choose pureed, vegetable or chicken broth as a base, which will help to save calories,” says smith. “Additionally, look for versions loaded with vegetables and light on the starches.” Some of your best weapons against fighting fat are foods high in protein and fiber, and lentil soup has significant amounts of both. Although it’s easy to grab pre-made or canned soups from the grocery-store shelves, most are loaded with salt, which can lead to uncomfortable bloating and water retention. Because vegetables are low-calorie and full of hunger-crushing fiber, vegetable soup is one of the most waist-friendly meals around. “Vegetable soup made with whole vegetables can help to promote satiety due to the higher fiber content in the soup, thereby helping to promote eating less and being more satisfied,” says Smith. Fill up on veggies, and you won’t fill out by reaching for unhealthy snacks later. The reigning celebrity superfood, kale gets its reputation for a reason — it’s rich in nutrients like vitamin K, which is important for strong bones, and vitamin C, which boosts immunity.
