My mother and grandparents were diabetic, and at age 42, I was also diagnosed with diabetes and had to give myself five injections of insulin per day. So, I went to a seminar with a bariatric surgeon and chose LAP-BAND® surgery, because it was less invasive and could be reversed if needed. (I was afraid of bypass at that time.) Also, I was not a candidate for bypass surgery until my vasculitis healed. I was happy with the band at first, but then I started to have some problems with it. My surgeon told me I could have the band removed and go to a dietitian, or I could have gastric bypass surgery. And by this time, my vasculitis had healed, so I was an eligible candidate. By September, I had lost 140 lbs and I had knee replacement surgery. By January of 2013, I was off the walker and cane and had lost another 20 lbs during rehab.
Did you do Oxycise! With this last pregnancy I keep up the exercising and always felt really good. Once in the morning and Oxycise! It helped with my eating, because I was not tired all the time. With the last one It was always messy. I have to say though that even though my back did hurt the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy it was not really bad. (Now mind you the most I did for the 5 weeks after delivery was Oxycise!). When I shot the infomercial, I was a jean size of 12-14 and dress size 10. They were too big, and I went with the 10! I enjoy reading the weekly newsletter that you put out, and I wanted to write and tell you about my own experience with Oxycise. "I have all the Oxycise! Will have a relatively easy time like I did, but I DO believe my knowledge and practice of focused breathing (like we do in the Oxycise workouts) helped a lot. My Lamaze teacher recommended that all the women in her class get one, so I did, and I was SO GLAD. I would turn on the TV or radio and Oxycise! "I am not sure if I am sending this to the right place, I just wanted you to know how well Oxycise!

Nutrition and Workouts: I was completely stepping out of my comfort zone with the nutrition and exercise but I was determined to make FYM work for me and I have stuck it out. I was finally going to get in shape and lose the fat! For now, I like who I am and the body I am in; and I am grateful for the love and support of Club FYM. Having six children and not making the time for me was really getting to me. The way I was eating and the way I was handling things was not positive. I was tired all the time, and felt like I would never be myself again. I was so surprised that I nearly threw out the scale then and there. I was able to stick to it and get over the hump. I have learned through this that committing to do it and following through is the key to seeing results. Keeping up with the exercise and clean eating was the best thing I could have done for her.

If you know you are having a big steak dinner tonight plan out your lunch and breakfast accordingly. Figure out haw many calories you will have for dinner subtract from your goal calorie intake (add a zero to your goal weight, if you want to be 120 lbs eat only 1200 calories a day) and then divide by two that is how much you should have for breakfast and lunch. Drink 2 large glasses with breakfast, lunch and dinner at the minimum and more if you are thirsty or hungry. Diets are fads , they are marketing BS and you are smarter than that! Even if you are stuck in the house and can’t make it out to the gym or the park you can still burn some calories. You are in a unique position where you can cook for yourself everyday, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even if your kids are still on baby food start cooking breakfast and lunch for yourself. It’s not just about you if you are a Stay at Home Mom, your kids will see your behavior and imitate it. If you beat yourself up your kids will do the same to themselves. You had a child, your body is strong and sexy!

"I had been overweight for as long as I could remember, but high school was particularly tough because I was the "big girl" on the cheerleading squad. When our team visited other schools I could hear kids saying "boom" when I jumped and landed, which was mortifying. My family and friends told me I was "big-boned" and that was my lot in life. I tried many diet and exercise programs throughout the years, but my weight loss was always temporary. I turned to food for comfort when I was sad and as a reward when I was happy." But when I looked at pictures from that night, I was surprised and embarrassed by how big I was compared to everyone else. "In five months, I lost 50 pounds and had the confidence to join a six-week boot camp with a group of coworkers. At that point, I gave up processed foods and started drinking more water. Thanks to my at-home workouts and boot camp, I discovered that I loved running, so I joined the Atlanta Track Club and signed up for the Resolution Run 5 K on New Year's Day. I finished the first year of my weight loss adventure 85 pounds lighter and eventually reached my goal weight 18 months to the day I started. Taking that time out helps me refocus and return to my healthy habits." "As I lost weight, I donated my too-big clothes to Goodwill and treated myself to a few outfits from there or other thrift stores. I compete with them in races on the playground, and try to match their total miles each week with my own running."
What was the “turning point” that prompted you to lose weight? I stepped on the scale in March 2009 and nearly cried when I saw the big 270. My highest weight ever had been 279 pounds in high school and throughout the years I’d slowly lost weight, but being a stay at home mom, I had obviously started putting on the weight again. When did you start trying to lose weight? Weighing every single thing out and tracking it takes a lot of time and I’m usually the last one to eat my dinner, but it’s so worth it when you step on the scale. If you reached a weight loss plateau, how did you break out of the rut? It sounds counterproductive, but I’d add more calories a few days a week, in order to jump-start the weight loss process, and it usually worked. But I still see that fat girl when I look in the mirror. Being overweight, especially all your life like I was, isn’t just a physical thing – it’s a mental thing, too, and overcoming that mental block can sometimes be just as hard, if not harder, than the actual weight loss itself. Realize that this is a lifestyle change and remove the word ‘diet’ from your vocabulary. This isn’t temporary, unless you want the weight loss to be temporary. I know it seems embarrassing, but you don’t have to tell them your weight. If I said “no thank you” they understood why, and having them on board with my plans was the most helpful support I could ever ask for.

Soon after beginning the weight loss contest, I told my husband that I needed a bracelet or something to keep me focused and on track. The bracelet tracked my weight loss and reminded me to make wise choices while reaching for food. It also helped me to see what I had accomplished and gave me the determination and motivation I needed to continue losing weight. In my past weight loss attempts, I became discouraged by the number of pounds I wanted to lose, and the amount of time and hard work it would take. My motivational bracelet helped me accomplish my goal and even though the contest was over, my weight loss journey wasn’t complete. What was the biggest challenge about losing the weight? Erin Bauer-Whitfield packed on more than 20 pounds after she enlisted. When she hit 170, she was put on the Army's overweight program, which relegated her to extra physical training and cleaning duties. Feeling bored and alone, she decided to make a change. She started lifting weights and working out on the step machine in a nearby gym at least four times a week. After four months she was down to 145 pounds. I was eating cheeseburgers, milk shakes and fries every day," she says. Her weight ballooned to 198 pounds, and she grew depressed and desperate. Once she had her son, Varik, she vowed she'd lose the weight. And this time, she wanted to make lasting changes. She traded hamburgers for six small meals a day and took four-mile walks every day, pushing Varik in the stroller. In four months, she dropped to 135 pounds. Today Erin eats whatever she wants, in moderation, and has a newfound love of fitness. "If you can catch your weight gain at a smaller amount it's easier to kick it in the butt. If you're fighting to stay a certain weight, it's not the right weight for you." It makes you feel like you're on the go and stops you from sitting all day."

Yes, all these diets worked and I did lose weight, but their rules became rather unbearable after a short while. All these diet plans permitted me to eat only certain kinds of food, and I missed my favorite foods so much that soon I felt deprived to lose fat. Of course, some people do very well on these diet plans, and they lose weight, and even feel that these diets make them healthier. My plan took care of both eating calories and burning calories. I ate 5 to 6 times in small portions throughout the day. I was careful with the portion sizes. After my workouts, I took the kids to the playground to play with them. As I got stronger, I increased the weights and the number of repititions. To lose fat, you’ve got to burn calories. So, every Saturday and Sunday I put aside my diet regime and ate the foods I enjoyed, but… By the way, if you want to speed up your weight loss SAFELY and NATURALLY, I highly recommend this very effective weight loss booster (FREE):

When I crossed the finish line in 15 hours and 28 minutes, I was euphoric. A SECOND CHANCE Before I lost weight, my body was giving out and I was giving up. In August 2012, Jennifer L., a 38-year-old, stay-at-home-mom to 2 girls, ages 8 and 11, decided to get serious about losing weight. “I wanted to start tracking my activity and calories. I quickly started using it 24/7 and became obsessed with my stat tracking and goal-setting. I started with the Fitbit Ultra, and now have a One, which is awesome. It’s so small and discreet! I love that I can see my calories burned throughout the day and know that I’m on track with my activity.” In just 7 months of tracking her food and exercise, Jennifer achieved a huge milestone. Jennifer acknowledges that getting serious about her health is the best thing she has ever done for herself. “I love My Fitness Pal and my Fitbit. I guess that I have plenty of time to eat lunch and snacks, etc.when I used to get just a 30 min. I know I could take the baby on a walk but it's not the great cardio type walking that burns calories. Any walking burns more calories than sitting, and you could put the baby in a stroller and walk as fast as you want. There are also exercise videos that you can do at home while the baby is napping or even awake. I suspect that the constant availablity of food is a factor too. Thank you for the tips. I have been bored since being home and I think I'm eating more because of it. Take that baby outside and walk. It will make you feel really good, not only the exercise but getting out of that house and showing your child the world around you. The hormone changes that occurred led to massive mood swings in me and I have also been an emotional eater and "Boredom Binger". You can eat a lot of carrots and not get that many calories. Popcorn would work well for that too. The only emotion that makes me eat is stress. The emotional eating was also a cycle or addiction, I'd be bored, binge then feel bad about it and binge more.

“One of my favorite people in the world, my aunt, was diagnosed with cancer,” explains Amy. “I was fortunate enough to invite her into our home, so she lived with my family for a period where she did the chemo treatments, the radiation, and everything else with us by her side.” During this time, Amy admits that everything else in her life took the backseat for a couple of years. “I was worried about caring for my aunt, my kids, my house, and my finances,” she says. With all of the stress coming to a head with her aunt’s passing, Amy, at a petite 5”1’, was at 166 pounds…the heaviest she had ever been. Amy wished for the same as her friend. Amy channeled her inner detective and applied some research; she knew that if she did Isagenix and the Isa Body Challenge® it would keep her dedicated for the long haul. And if it didn’t work, then that was it,” shares Amy. “I was just going to let myself be and figured maybe this was the body I was supposed to have after having two kids.” “I figured the stuff was going to come, I was going to do the system, and it was going to be fine!” laughs Amy. “I woke up three hours later and knew my life was going to change that day…I had made a schedule, highlighted an agenda, and immediately signed up for the Isa Body Challenge to hold me accountable.” She kept a skirt from high school and hung it outside her closet every day during the Challenge for inspiration. “I firmly believe with my whole heart that Isagenix gave me the power to get back into that skirt,” shares Amy.
The plan gives each food a certain number of points, and you only get to eat so many points per day. Before Weigh Down, I would eat a salad and fat-free food and later make cookies "for my husband" and polish off half the dough. The weight came off fast — I lost about 17 pounds in a month. Just eat it s-l-o-w-l-y, and take the time to really enjoy it. In college, I was a speed eater, too: I overloaded my plate with food in the cafeteria, finished it off in minutes, then went back for more. But as soon as I stepped off, I'd feel hungry again, and the cycle would start all over. One is real hunger in the pit of your stomach; the other is an empty feeling you think is hunger — and it's something food can't fill. But when I lost the weight, I felt ready. Then we'd hit the mall and grab lunch at the food court. Turning point: Soon after the wedding, I hit 200 pounds. But I had to face facts when I saw that number on the scale. I ate it twice a day in the beginning, then once a day, and now, I only eat a Happy Meal once every other month.
