We’ve all heard about the dangers of excess sugar, and regular soda is the top source in the American diet. So if you’re trying to lose weight, I say stick with good old H 2 O; and if you have a sweet tooth, manage it in savvy ways that involve enjoying real, natural foods. Finding balance and eating in ways that make you feel nourished, energized, and well are the real keys to a healthy body and a healthy weight.
Is that the best you can do? WHOLE grains are one of the best things you can add to your diet. That and moderation is the key… This way you don’t get the least bit addicted, no extra calories, and best of all , you get to drink a soda. Could it be that these ailments are common and anything suspected of not being good for you, gets scapegoated as the cause? As for the whole difference between regular soda and diet, may be I’m confused by how this works, but if I seriously was drinking 2 1/2 liters of calorie filled regular soda don’t you think I’d start gaining weight. No, people are arguing that the research presented here is flawed and some of the reasoning does not connect. I don’t think that artificial sweeteners are good for you, but the evidence that they are actively harmful to your body is scanty. I find that when you drink diet drinks and cut out the extra sugar your body has a better sensitivity to insulin. Did some research and found that the phosphoric acid in diet coke absorbs calcium from your bones. Can someone tell me what diet coke does to the mind and body . I feel a little uneasy and the only that changed in my routine was that drink. Exercising that much and drinking diet soda does not prove that aspartame makes you lose weight. Water is better for you but sometimes you want a little more and not all the sugar and calories. I don’t like water…I’m NOT a rat…and I will drink my Diet Coke Zero as long as I want too, and your so-called facts are not proven…stop trying to scare people all the time with every little thing that you all say is going to kill them!
Instead, I wanted to take a look at the effect of DIET soda on weight loss. Diet soda has zero calories (generally) and zero actual sugar, which means it can’t directly make you gain weight, right? Coke, on the other hand, has 240 calories and 68 grams of sugar (holy *), which definitely causes weight gain. If you look up “diet coke weight gain,” you’ll find all kinds of articles that say Diet Coke is the devil. Other sites say that Diet Coke is perfectly fine for you, as it has no calories and therefore no ill effect (I would guess these articles are written by people who chug DC by the gallon). Maybe the people who drink Diet Coke generally don’t take into consideration what constitutes a healthy diet, while people who don’t drink it generally could be more knowledgeable about their diets and thus eat better? I don’t know the full reasons and more research must be done, but the strong correlation between the two has me definitely leaning towards the “Diet Coke can make you fat” camp. My big problem with Diet Coke is that I don’t know what the hell is in it. In my personal opinion, I’d say Diet Coke is the lesser of two evils if you’re trying to lose weight. Regardless of what the FDA says, I’m not convinced that the stuff in Diet Coke and Coke Zero isn’t harmful, and I’m not convinced that because it has littler or no calories it can’t make you gain weight. I’d love to hear some actual stories from you guys and how soda and diet soda has affected your weight loss and health.
