"I have always been a runner and a walker, so I kept that up two or three times a week and incorporated Bar Method into my workout about twice a week in preparation for my wedding. "For my wedding weight loss plan, I started doing CORE FUSION® , which fuses core conditioning, Pilates, the Lotte Berk Method, interval cardio training, and yoga. Going to class motivated me in a group setting and focused on total body toning with extra focus on the core, which was my target area. It was my favorite hour of the day and really kept me balanced. "My mother-in-law treated me to a week at Rancho La Puerta about four months before my wedding, which kick-started my workouts leading up to the big day and got me moving more and eating healthier. I tried spinning for the first time there and loved it. Add in the agave syrup and a pinch of cinnamon. If I had the money, I would use one all the time, but they are expensive and it adds up fast. Story 1 - The Bar Method

I have been a cyclist for almost 10 years now so everyone thought I had a wreck on the bike and that was the result. From client breakfasts, lunches, and the occasional dinner, eating out is difficult to do without gaining weight and that is exactly what happened. I lost my father 10 years ago and with the loss of my mother in October of 2012, it’s a hard thing to face being “parentless” at 38. I couldn’t do anything and that included training and riding in the MS 150 bike ride that I have done 6 years previously. So I started Bar Method in early July of 2013 and it is one of the best things I have ever done. Cycling is time consuming and not something I can easily work in during the work week. I have tried bootcamps and while I saw results, I was miserable the entire time. Bar Method is enjoyable and is producing results for me. The other day, I was in my workout gear and I stood up and stretched, reaching my arms up in the doorway. I was ready to take the stage that very moment!

The Bar Method Dancer's Body Advanced Workout Review

I hesitated before buying a copy of the latest Bar Method Dancer’s Body Advanced Workout DVD ($20) a few weeks ago because I was unsure if I would really get anything more than I have from the four Bar Method DVD workouts that I own. But in for a penny, in for a dollar and I ordered not only the DVD, but several Bar Method accessories. Dancer’s Body Advanced Workout is led by master Bar Method teacher Marine Alton, who with her deep tan, dazzling smile, and California vibe couldn’t be more different from the elfin Ms. Now the workout itself is pure Bar Method and at first blush is extremely similar to Super Sculpting II. Dancer’s Body Advanced Workout is way more intense than anything else in the Bar Method repertoire. You do need The Bar Method Ball ($12) though. When buying Dancer’s Body Advanced Workout I also bought the small Bar Method mat ($19.99), the weights and a strap. Is Bar Method Dancer's Body Advanced Work Out DVD Right for Me? Bar Method Dancer’s Body Advanced Workout DVD creates lean muscles. Bar Method Dancer’s Body Advanced Workout DVD may help with weight loss. Review of The Bar Method Fitness Class - POPSUGAR Fitness

Review of The Bar Method Fitness Class. Class Act: The Bar Method. If you are looking for a killer workout or to add variety to your strength-training routine you need to check out The Bar Method . Have you tried the Bar Method? Love love the bar method. I'm good about aerobic exercise but have always slacked on toning, and the Bar Method really whips you into shape. I have not tried the Fluidity bar but I do know that this and what they teach at Physique 57 in Manhattan both originated with a woman who's name was Lotte Berke who started all this many years ago. I've taken a few classes at the LA studio and have seen her there. I've never taken bar method before but I did take beginner ballet and other dance classes centered around the bar. Plus, you can buy any of the other bar method type DVDs later on down the road and use it with the Fluidity bar if you want a change of pace from the Fluidity-designed method.

How Much Weight Loss With the Bar Method

How Much Weight Loss With the Bar Method. Pamela Ellgen began writing in 2000 for "The Asian Reporter" newspaper. The Bar Method is better for stretching and muscle toning than for weight loss. Although the Bar Method may induce some weight loss, the primary benefit described by many participants is a longer, leaner appearance and more muscle definition. Nevertheless, any exercise that burns calories and builds muscle will contribute to weight loss. Engaging in 60 minutes of Bar Method exercise can burn as many as 360 calories for a 135-pound woman.

Fed Up will make you hit the side of your head and say, “oooh, right.” Instead, it lowers your energy level, and makes you feel starving all the time. I didn’t get fat, but my looks and energy level suffered from all the sugar in my diet. Look at the next processed food you buy and notice that the “daily value” percentage for sugar (how many grams you should eat of this type of nutrient in a day) is mysteriously missing. So if you have to choose between aerobic and strengthening, decide on the merits. It’s called interval training, and the Bar Method is one form of it.  But if you just have time for one workout, listen to what your body is telling you about how much you love the Bar Method, and enjoy! You — and everyone else on the planet who works hard — need recovery time. Traditions drag us out of our work lairs and get us to the party so that we remember how to feel human. In the end, you’ll come out ahead with more energy and a calmer state of mind. The holidays are a time to be joyful and celebrate, come what may. In our partnership I’m the one in charge of the exercise and teaching methods.

4 Ways to Create a Weight Loss Chart

Studies have shown that weighing yourself on a daily basis can help you maintain your weight loss goals. Name the first column "Date" and the second column "Weight." Fill in the date and weight data that you currently weigh. If you want to take the data you have entered into the date and weight columns and turn it into a line graph chart, you can see the ups and downs in your weight loss journey. You can also right click on the graph and click the "Select Data" option. It will also allow you to name the X and Y axis. The advantage to creating your own chart is that you can add extra values to it. Run a Google search for "weight loss spreadsheet." If you don't want to design your own chart in Excel, you can download some pre-designed Excel templates that will chart your progress. Type "weight loss spreadsheet" into your favorite search engine and hit the "search" button. All you will need to do is plug in your data (such as height, weight, and the dates) into their corresponding columns. The advantage to on-line web sites and apps is that they can track multiple aspects of your weight loss, not just the pounds that you lose or gain. While you want to keep track of your weight loss, you might want to avoid weighing yourself every single day. If you have an older version of Excel, you can use the Chart Wizard to create a graph.

Can Bar Method Classes Replace Aerobics? - Healthy Living

Can you trade in traditional cardio workouts for barre fitness classes? “We want students to work so hard that their muscles start to shake,” instructor and co-owner of a The Bar Method studio Leslie Rosenberg told “The Denver Post.” “Students find it addictive, and say, ‘I can't re-create that shaking.’” While barre fitness exercises featuring pliés, relevés, light weight training and stretching may achieve similar results to more traditional cardio workouts, they're primarily a strengthening and flexibility workout. You'll certainly burn calories with this method, but depending on your fitness level and goals, you may want to supplement the classes with other cardio. The Bar Method classes and other barre fitness workouts target muscles you might never use in other classic cardio workouts. The Bar Method founder Burr Leonard describes the workout as offering the benefits of both aerobics and strengthening. Because the method works your cardiovascular system, you can rely solely on the barre fitness classes - three or four times a week is generally recommended - to stay healthy and fit, according to The Bar Method. The bottom line is this: If you’re trying to choose between barre fitness classes and traditional cardio workouts such as indoor cycling or running, it may come down to personal preference. Since The Bar Method workouts offer weight-loss benefits, in that sense it can serve the same goals as other cardio exercises do. If you’re athletic, you may prefer to add other movement-oriented exercises to your routine, such as running, cycling, swimming or other cardio workouts, The Bar Method recommends.

Chasing a dancer's body : Does the Bar Method workout

Chasing a dancer's body: Does the Bar Method workout really work? Bar Method is quite the workout. We examine Bar Method in the second report of the series. What is the Bar Method? The Bar Method is so named for the ballet barres utilized during class. Although the Bar Method borrows from Pilates and yoga with its subtle, targeted exercises and extended stretching poses, it’s unique in that the core of the Method combines derivations of ballet dance conditioning (thus, the barres) with rehabilitative therapy techniques. Class begins with exercises that target the front and the back sides of your body, toning one side while elongating the other. A light aerobic workout, the Bar Method appeals to young and old alike, as well as varying body types and fitness levels. The Bar Method’s routine and exercises have been tweaked over time, but they are based on Berk’s original concept. The Bar Method focuses more on easing students’ shoulders, backs, hips and knees while improving alignment and posture. The Bar Method has built a following with 75 locations in 18 states and Canada.

Story 1 - The Bar Method

I wonder if there is a Bar Method Studio around here somewhere?” After shopping, I drove around the center and what do you know, The Bar Method Carlsbad studio was right there! So, I decided to give the studio a try and take my first Bar Method class in March 2012 with the $10 for 10 days special. At the time, not only was my body completely out of shape, but my mind was so unconditioned and undisciplined that I didn’t have the willpower to continue taking classes. The hardest thing for me to accept was, in order for me to be really be there for my husband and daughter, I needed to put in enough time to take care of myself! For me, it was just going to take more than the average person to overcome not only weight challenges, but health challenges as well. After talking to my physical therapist, doing more research online and reading endless client testimonials, I decided I wanted to give The Bar Method Carlsbad a REAL try. After going 2-3 times a week for 2 months, I could definitely feel the difference in my improved flexibility, posture and overall mood and mental clarity. Not only have I lost weight and inches; but I have improved my posture and flexibility (I can touch my toes now and couldn’t before due to extremely tight hamstrings), and dramatically reduced the chronic pain in my body associated with Fibromyalgia. I sleep better, feel better, walk better, stand better, bend better and the list goes on! The days where I have to miss a class because of unforeseen circumstances, I feel less able and energetic. I DID NOT, NOR HAVE I EVER in my adult life had a consistent exercise routine UNTIL The Bar Method! The Bar Method is the ONLY exercise that I’ve ever enjoyed and felt life-changing results with. I’m now 10 pounds UNDER MY PRE-BABY WEIGHT and the same size I was almost 4 years ago!”

From Fat to Skinny in One Year! - Lose Weight By Eating

It all started when a friend of mine helped me out with my before and after weight loss pictures. I figured I would dedicate a post to their questions and encourage you to ask me questions below as well. I do now, the Bar Method and I am completely obsessed! What made the weight come off and I continue to eat now: As you can see above I was eating what some people would assume was healthy before the weight would come off, but I was eating foods w/ preservatives and chemicals in them, plus having a few too many carbs at dinner and worst of all drinking tons of diet sodas and flavored waters and almost no actual water. Also if you see above all the foods that I now eat are well balanced, all natural and satisfying. Look at the picture below, I copied this from Pintrest and put on my desktop so I can look at it anytime. I break my diet plan at 3pm for bread and salty foods, how do I overcome this? The idea is that you are feeding those cravings before they happen and you are doing it with an essential meal rather than just a snack. With this plan you can still have a glass of wine, a small desert or a light snack worked in somewhere in the day. I beg you all, put down the processed foods, the fake sugars (all of them please) and pick up nature’s 100 calorie pack, a banana. If you have questions or need a weight loss cheerleader I am your gal, no judgement, no pressure, just a friend who wants to see you thin, healthy and happy. I also have a search bar, say you want to make chicken type in “chicken” and you will have a ton of recipes to choose from. My name is Audrey Johns and I would like to share my remarkable weight loss story with you. I found that when I stopped eating all processed foods, anything with chemicals, preservatives and artificial sweeteners, and increased my water intake the weight just started to fall off!

Kelly Osbourne Inspired Me to Try the Bar Method

Kelly Osbourne Inspired Me to Try the Bar Method Review. This time though she followed a no-frills low carb diet and gives huge credit to the Bar Method. Inspired by Kelly's new shape, I decided to give The Bar Method a go with a DVD called Change Your Body. The Bar Method is an exercise routine that is part ballet, a dash of yoga, a pinch of pilates core work and body sculpting (see review here ). When you look more closely, The Bar Method workout isn’t really a combo of pilates and yoga. For a start, it is more intense and the poses are held for longer. I did find that The Bar Method has more of an isometric thing going for it than Core Fusion (holding muscle contractions for seconds at a time). For the first time in my entire 51 year old life, I don't feel that jeans make me look little and fat. She just stuck with it, stopped the incessant yo-yo dieting that the media obsessed over and quite simply made it a lifestyle change.

Weight loss Archives - The Bar Method

In this blog, I want to explore the possibility that snacks could be both delicious and low in sugar. Here are ten of my favorite beauty benefits of exercise and how you can boost these results with efficient full-body workouts like the Bar Method. The Bar Method workout provides the intense exercise that facilitates sleep, while its focus on stretching and breathing makes for a relaxed body and a good night’s rest so that you look fresh the next day. We know by now that the Bar Method makes you look sexier. When it comes to workouts that optimize your sexiness, the Bar Method, with its targeted strengthening and stretching exercises for the muscles around the hips, tops the list! And let’s be honest ladies when you feel good your confidence peeks and that is the sexiest feature any woman can have! Last week I told you what I enjoyed most, and what was hardest, about making the new Bar Method “Super Sculpting II” DVD. What I enjoyed most about making this set is that they are pegged to be intermediate-to-advanced, so when it came to designing the routines I could pick from just about any exercise in the Bar Method and even create new ones if I wished. To me he is living proof that the Bar Method can and does significantly change men’s bodies. I decided to take a level one class for the first time so that I would not be pushing my body too hard and as a way to mix things up.

Top 5 Barre DVDs for Weight Loss 2016

In case you haven’t heard, barre workouts are very powerful and are notorious for their ability to change your body quickly. On this page, I have listed *my* 5 favorite barre workouts and the reasons why I like them. Although all barre workouts are based on the principles of Lotte Berk , Physique 57 and Bar Method differ in the way they are done. What I can tell you is that I have a couple of workouts from Suzanne Bowen (the instructor of Barre Amped), and I really like them. So any DVD that can give you the intensity of a live barre class can pretty much guarantee you will lose weight fairly quickly, and I’m all for it! If you’ve read my most recent post , you would already know that these workouts are my current obsession because of the slimming and elongation I am getting. These workouts are the PERFECT compliment to any barre workout DVD because they go deeper, and further what barre workouts  encourage – stretching after strengthening for maximum toning benefits. You will be screaming for mercy and might even start throwing things at the TV ;). Although the Ballet Body workouts are not for the faint of heart, don’t be intimidated by them.  The workouts are a bit deceiving because they seem simple, but the sequence of moves and pulsing pushes you to the edge. There are two workouts included in the set – Amped Up and Signature Sculpt. But these are great, and they hit the triceps very good. If you are new to barre workouts, be sure to check out my list of the best barre workout DVDs for beginners. I love sharing with you what works for me, and I genuinely think the things I have learned can be helpful to you also.

Kelcey's Kinections : My Bar Method Experience Part I

My Bar Method Experience Part I: The Initial Reaction. And for the little hermits who haven't heard of the Bar Method, or any of the other bar fitness regimes, I'm here to give you the lowdown. Whether it's weight loss, a sculpted body or a place to burn off some steam that you're looking for, the Bar Method apparently offers it all. And it would be unfair for me to criticize the Bar Method without ever having taken a class myself. This way I figure I can at least make a more creditable and informed decision about whether or not the Bar Method is something I'd actually recommend. The class left me with a new found feeling of accomplishment and some motivation to return so that I could improve. I have now taken three more classes at the Bar Method and all of the classes have a fairly consistent format. The class starts with a 45-60 second full body warm up and then moves right into arm work. Even though you are only using baby weights, you will still feel the burn while you do the workout and might even notice some changes in your arm muscle definition after only your first few sessions. But besides the push up portion of the arm work, the majority of the exercises are used to attempt to tone the arm muscles and will not necessarily result in huge strength gains. You will feel the burn and your legs will probably shake uncontrollably. You will work your muscles till they are fatigued in each exercise and after your first class, you'll certainly be feeling it the next day. I have not seen a single male in the Bar Method studio since I started and I have feeling this will not change. All the classes will focus on the arms, lower body and abdominals and will work your body in a way that is meant to tone, or "carve" muscles, as they like to say. My plan is to continue working out at the Bar Method until the end of the month and I will write again about my final thoughts on this fitness fad including who should and should not attempt it, what the potential benefits and risks are and if it's really worth your money.
