For those that care about pleasing their tastebuds, today I’ll be reviewing the Supreme Protein Carb Conscious Bars. But I’m not too worried since you are required by law to state the ingredients by their amount, therefore the first ingredient is what it’s mostly comprised of, and in a protein bar I expect to see high quality isolate. I wouldn’t mind the 30g of carbs if the bar was named just “supreme protein” but the fact that it’s marketed as carb conscious kind of defeats the purpose. I would have to say that the sweetness of the bar edges on the realm of “almost too much” but it’s still manageable. Still, like I said it’s manageable and I was able to finish the entire bar. The peanut butter itself was also gooey and satisfying… This bar is probably half as sweet as the peanut butter one (which I liked) and it’s also got these dark cookie bits which remind me of Oreos. The only thing is that this bar DOES have a slight aftertaste to it… It’s a lil bit chalky but it’s not that bad, you can easily get through the bar without much complaints. Overall, it’s not bad but I would say that the C&C is more of a “make or break” flavor. This bar though, the caramel nut chocolate one, hits everything home for me. This bar is the perfect compromise. Actually I’d go as far as to say that the Supreme Protein Bars are one of the best tasting bars on the market today. This is a bit on the high side but then you also need to consider the weight, the protein quality and the amount. Most of Supreme Protein Bars are anywhere from 86-96 grams, which is bigger than most of the 50-70 grammers that you see, and let’s not forget the 30g of quality protein which is mostly isolate so IMO, you are getting good value for your money.

I have tried gels with protein and they work good (I have even tried grilled chicken drumsticks), but the Supreme bars are OUTSTANDING. One bar at the hour mark of a two hour ride, was more than enough to go along with carbs from the gels and bananas that were being consumed. The bar is great tasting, not gritty (IMO) when compared to other bars, and went down very easy, with no harmful GI issues. Not to much bad to say other than they need more than 2 flavors, and I would love to see a fluid replacement added to the Supreme line.
