I had been forewarned by my fellow acupuncturist/nutrition guru/fiancé that trying to survive on juice and juice alone with my current lifestyle, workout schedule and general output level was not a smart idea in any capacity. Eye opening in that as the days went on, I became less and less “hungry” but more and more ensconced in this idea that I needed to eat every 10 minutes or so. My desire to eat as I said, was less about become satiated, I was pounding juice and water to take care of that, but more so to satisfy the habit of eating. Not only did I find I was addicted to the act of eating, I was far more addicted to the break that it afforded me. The morning of day four was fantastic. I’d had a very rough night the night before but woke up feeling energetic and with no desire to eat anything. I happily headed down to the gym for another workout and even felt great lifting weights. No longer was there a desire to snack or fill time, but after a hard workout I would find myself for all intents and purposes feeling mildly drunk. This forgetfulness would slowly go away with a few more glasses of juice and a couple of passing hours, but it was rather disconcerting. Unfortunately the forgetfulness was replaced with more intense forgetfulness and further alcohol consumption symptoms. So on that morning I decided to add in two eggs and a half of an avocado in the morning, drink juice all day, and additionally add two chicken drumsticks with some more avocado at night. If I were to recommend a juice fast to a client and/or patient, I now have personal insight into the matter and would advise against doing a pure juice fast for any longer than four or five days if you’re an active athlete. This blog will chronicle my first juice fast, scheduled for six weeks. I hope that these daily posts of my experiences will provide insight into the juice fasting process to anyone who is also considering their first juice fast. I had heard of juice fasts for years but was inspired to take them seriously by the Fat Sick and Nearly Dead documentary, recommended to me by a family member. I was inspired by the results that the subjects of the documentary achieved, and the principle of the juice fast makes sense: live off of your stored energy while you load up on nutrients. I'm a skeptic, so I won't be spiritualizing the fast here, but if fasts really do provide insight through pain, I plan to drop that knowledge. This is my first juice fast, but it is also my first blog.

The purpose of a fast of mourning is the demonstration that those fasting are impacted by and distraught over earlier loss.
The past 8 months have been the hardest and most eye opening of my entire life. One of the HARDEST things for me to accept (before this point) was loving and accepting myself physically. 30 days ago I was a tired, emotionally drained mom who was always grumpy, frumpy and needed a daily nap with my two-year-old just to make it through the day. The results weren’t just affecting my pant size, my skin was getting more even and for the first time ever, I didn’t breakout during that time of the month. Every morning, I want to hug by body and apologize for being so harsh and awful toward as I was in the past. And its a miracle that they are able to function after all of the suffering physically and emotionally. Get your system, and try it for 30 days. My 5-Day Green Juice Fast Experience. When you end the juice fast and return to old eating habits, the weight will always come back. I followed a 5-day juice fasting protocol that involved starting the day with coconut water and lime. I’m not sure I would have been as successful with the juice fast had I tried to wing it on my own. On the second day, I made the mistake of waiting to have my green juice for a couple of hours after I woke up. Despite enjoying the feeling of “lightness” during the first two days of my juice fast, I stop noticing it by day three. When you have a bowel movement during an extended juice fast, what is happening is that your body is expelling fiber that slips into the juice from the juicing process. 2 – Spiritual Feeling: It’s hard to explain the feeling I had during the first two days on the juice fast. There’s no getting around the fact that a juice fast is basically liquid starvation to facilitate weight loss. I had to wash the pulp basket, juice basket and all five juicer parts every time I made a juice. 5 – Removing The Healthy Fiber: Fiber is an important nutrient, and when you are on a juice fast, you simply are not getting enough of it. Dietary fiber is critically important for detoxification and that is one of the main reasons I don’t support juice fasting for detox. You can’t make up a huge batch of green juice and drink it throughout the day or over a couple days, unlike green smoothies. The diet that I follow and recommend (green smoothies, whole foods, plant based) provides all of the same health benefits (and more) that a juice fast is supposed to provide.
I started the fast at 126 and I now am at 121. I'm doing it with a group, and the leader (someone whose been doing this for thirty years) said that It's fat loss. I haven't gained any of that weight back, and since the purpose of the fast was not for weight loss, I'm not entirely sure how. When you cut your calories that severely, MOST of the loss you will get will be MUSCLE.) When you start eating again, you will gain most of this weight back. These are credible websites that give you a more accurate idea of the nutrition, exercise, and calorie intake that your body specifically needs. If you really want to maintain your weight at 115, please take this advice and PLEASE visit is really a great tool! Also keep in mind, 115 is the MINIMUM weight for someone at 5'5.5' so don't get below that or you put yourself at high risk for future and long term health problems and you would also be damaging your heart. What kind of juice are you using for your fast, i am interested in trying it i have been stuck at 133 for 2 weeks now and need to change things up. The only way someone can do regular fasting for thirty years and not have gained the weight back is if they keep starving or under-eating even after they finish the fast. I guarantee that the majority of the weight you are losing is water weight and poop weight. Next: My own MEDICAL DOCTOR recommends a fast of up to 10 days; it cleanses the body; whether you lose actual 'fat' - or just all that 'bloat' and toxic build-up, you feel great! This will help you to stay away from the fast food crap (if thats what you sometimes eat) and concentrate on the veggies and fruits!
Yes, you will lose weight. You might lose 5 or more lbs, but none of that will be fat. You will look just as fat as before, only with less muscle. In 7 days, the most fat you could lose is 2lbs. Anything over that is not fat, it's either muscle or water weight (which you will gain right back the second you drink). Do some strength training to make sure you lose fat and not muscle. If you lose more than that, chances are the rest is stool, water weight, or even muscle mass. Be aware that the weight will come back on during the few weeks that follow if you get back to your normal routine. You can only upload photos smaller than 5 MB. For those of you who have been following my 60 day juice fasting journey from the beginning, you will have noticed a lack of updates since day 30, for which I apologize. From my weigh in on day 30 until day 40 I hadn’t lost any additional weight, which was quite discouraging but not the sole reason for stopping. In total I lost 24lbs in 40 days, which is 0.60lbs weight loss per day. Had I stopped at day 30 this it would have been 0.80 per day. Having since analysed the whole fast, what I drank and when, I can’t pinpoint anything which may have caused the stop in weight loss or the excessive muscle loss. I had drunk as much a green juice as possible for protein and my juice and water intake was always consistent. I can only really conclude that it’s possible that I embarked on too long of a fast for my total weight and what I needed to lose. I am currently maintaining a stable weigh of 176 lbs, which is the same weight I was at day 40 when I ended my fast. Day 7 is now in the bag and I”ve got to say the detox is getting very interesting. The way I”m experiencing it is I feel like heavy metals and toxins are exiting through the pores of my skin. It seems to be the safest and most effective fast available. This fast is from my experience and demonstrates how to fast, when to fast, for how long and the rewards. The Five Reasons To Fast. Training and modifying your program to accommodate the body's adjustment to the fast will increase fat loss many times over than if you were not training. Not only that but unfortunately the reality is that you will increase your body's utilization for burning lean body mass (LBM) or muscle as well as fat. Most of the fat or adipose tissue will be burned when you are resting anyhow, not training. How fast you lose weight during the fast will be a factor between LBM and fat loss. The fast should not exceed a week. The important point to remember about a fast is not to shock the body. During the end of the fast, your body's metabolic rate will be lower than what it used to be. If you do not slowly end the fast the proper way, the fast will be to no avail.
Absolutely for the first 3 days, but then not so much. You drink this mixture for the desired length of the fast (usually 10-14 days or so, in order to detoxify your body. Fast forward to the fall of 2012 and the idea of fasting resurfaced between myself and Mrs. Some even consider this the only “real” way to detoxify your body and bring it back in check. I’m Donnie Toivola and this is my story about how I went on a juice fast and was able to get my life back. I looked into juicing and was immediately excited about the possibilities. Can you imagine, at only 40 years old, being so overweight and in pain from arthritis, that you have to use a raised toilet seat to even sit on the toilet? I was in the middle of training for my third ultramarathon , and Katie was practicing or teaching yoga every day. This limits how much you can take in and how quickly the body will process it. The Cleanse (And the Symphony of My Stomach) Katie and I had a stark initiation into the Juice Club with a 48-hour cleanse, where we consumed nothing but juice and water. After the initial juice cleanse, Katie and I fell into a regular routine of drinking our juice as breakfast. It takes a bit of time to prep the produce, juice, and clean. Add a little citrus to the juice and it will keep just fine for the next day. You can freeze the juice in an ice tray and make delicious and healthy popsicles. I bought and downloaded the Juice Diet 7lbs in 7 days and plan on definitely doing it for 5 - unfortunately the real world gets in the way. I think above anything else this has made me excited about substituting juice more into my diet and cutting out the more unhealthy snacks. Yes I know the best way to lose weight is to eat healthier and exercise but I wanted results fast for an event. I definitely recommend this juice for the diet. Well, if this juice diet makes you squirt out all the pulp in you, how is that water weight? Im going to start the juice diet in the morning. I started the juice diet not on purpose but because they are good and filling and found myself just drinking the juices and never feeling hungry ! What I do is refill water bottles with a pitcher in the fridge so its always extremely cold, and squirt some lemon juice in. I used to not drink water because it has either no taste or a metallic taste (to me) and the lemon helps with that as well. 50/50: One way to drink veggie juice without all the salt is to get a 50/50 blend of fruit and veggies. And that's without the 15 squirts of butter. I really want to know the real recipe for it i really want to start this diet cause i know im definately not "regular" and i need to get clean.

Posted by wilgrant on 3 years ago So I watched the documentary "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" and it inspired me to do this. So i wrote down my guidelines (some came as I learned during the fast): Juice Fast 1. All organic, raw fruits and veggies in juice form (any pulp in the juice is OK). Largest juices in the morning and evening (between 24-32oz) and 3 in the middle (roughly 16oz). You get plenty of water in the juice and typically you'll want to drink it prior to the juice or your wont drink any after 7. Try and drink juices you can't store airtight in less than 3 hours, and airtight juices in less than 12 hours. It's low RPMs and basically chews the food like you would spitting pulp out one end and juice out the other. If you like some pulp, it will leave some on a first run, if you want to eliminate it all, pour the juice back through the machine and it will be virtually pulp I stuck to these guidelines. None of this changed before, during or after the fast. I've got the numbers and they prove to be good!
